The new Beverly High School

The Beverly Education Foundation supports the “One to One“ Learning Initiative at the new Beverly High School where every student has a laptop.
Beverly High School is placing key 21st century learning tools into the hands of students for use anytime, anywhere. Students have their own laptop which enables them to...
  • Learn at their own pace with tools that complement their learning style and educational  interests.
  • Communicate with millions of other students for a global educational opportunity.
  • Review materials covered in class via on-line portals maintained by their teachers.
  • Connect in-school education with “real world environment”.
  • Access thousands of quality on-line resources that enhance learning, including tools to visualize math, virtual science labs, language learning resources, and primary documents from our national archives.

This program is about education.  It fully integrates digital technology with the curriculum and is the first of its kind in the region.

Funding Goal:  $ 250,000.00 in 5 years

In June of 2012, the Beverly Education Foundation, Inc. presented a check for $38,000.00 to the Beverly Public Schools in support of the Beverly High School’s 1 to 1 Learning Initiative.  This exciting initiative which began in the fall of 2011 seeks to provide every student with a laptop computer in the new wireless classrooms at Beverly High School.  All school systems are challenged to find the best ways to harness digital technology and bridge the digital divide.  The Beverly Education Foundation’s mission in support of the 1 to 1 Laptop Initiative is to support 21st Century teaching and learning, to create a seamless learning experience for all Beverly High School students, and to decrease or eliminate the digital divide for students who do not fall into easily defined categories of need.

Funds raised by the Beverly Education Foundation will be used to...
  • Create a learning environment for all students to maximize the use of technology.  The Beverly Education Foundation will provide funding in a variety of ways to support students.
  • Enable and sustain access to up-to-date technology for students. This program will offer a lease to own option for parents. BHS students who need to borrow a laptop will be given a loaner each day. Beverly Education Foundation will provide funding to help maintain a supply of loaner laptops.
  • Maintain a state-of-the-art tech support center. Students can bring their leased laptops to this center for repairs and maintenance. Beverly Education Foundation will help fund the cost of establishing this center, including spare parts, software upgrades, and yearly laptop maintenance.

Beverly High School will be the first in our area with a “One--to-One” Learning Initiative.  Help us put technology in the hands of every BHS student and transform our high school to a 21st century teaching and learning environment.
We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world. David Warlick
